Introducing a Tile collaboration between The Society inc by Sibella Court & Teranova Tiles
Tradewinds is a collection of 7 tile patterns & shapes designed by Sibella. As a true story teller, Sibella delved into her imagination and dreamt up an imaginary retired captain who inspired the collection. He resides in a shiplap house where the forest meets the sea, and spends his days wandering the shores, happily beach-combing & birdwatching and keeping to the rhythm of the sea. He may have a parrot for company and his house is littered with souvenirs & curiosities from his seafaring adventures to faraway shores.
Over the many years of travelling around the world, scouring flea markets and shops for vintage oddities & curiosities, I have accumulated an object library that I am constantly referencing in my design projects. This is referenced in both my Nostalgia & Seaworthy collections
You can see the world in any number of ways. I see it through colour. Imagine viewing the world through a kaleidoscope, bringing together combinations of colours in every imaginable shape and pattern and refraction, bursting with life and energy. Twist the dial and you instantly have a beautiful new combination, again and again and again.
This is the joy and energy that paint colour can bring to your space, which is why I immediately answer “not all white” whenever I’m asked what colour to paint a space.
Over 15 years I’ve worked with Murobond’s colourist to create 12 distinct collections, each with a 10 colour palette (yes you counted right, Palimpsest has 16). Each palette is a complete story with its own unique inspiration. You can treat each one as your own personal kaleidoscope, or make your own palette by mixing them all—simply twist the dial…
The Society inc created a little disturbance at Bismarck House, showcasing how you can weave in hand-crafted hardware & homegoods in a contemporary home to add that extra layering of character & texture
Escape to the South of France
Come and spend the week with me, seeking antiques and treasures at brocantes flea markets, outdoor antique fairs and getting the insider's access to vintage dealers storage barns in the South West of France.
I always craft my travel around a particular theme, and my last trip to Paris focused on exploring the wonderfully idiosyncratic little museums you can find hidden away behind the grand doors of 18th and 19th century mansions and hôtel particulier dotted throughout the city. Generously bequeathed to the state, or privately run, these jewel-box museums are like precious time capsules of the Paris of a bygone era.
If you’re visiting for the Maison & Objet fair from January 19 to 23, and you want to avoid the well-trodden paths of the big Parisian tourist haunts, here’s some inspiration on a few of my favourite little treasure troves to take in while you’re in town.
I dream of late afternoon snorkels, sunrise sand jogs, long lunches, cooking with friends, spending the day painting, reading and drifting off to sleep in the warmth of the sun. So this year, I found a house that I imagine doing all of these things in. My dear friend and photographer; William Meppem, lent me his estate, "Heaven on Kevin", a small cottage, with a massive deck complete for entertaining. Located in Avalon, just north of Sydney.
