High Traffic Bathroom Hacks

Design Notes from Sibella Court
Working in Hospitality, Retail & High Traffic Settings

Whether you are working on bar or restaurant toilets, spa treatment rooms or hotel bathrooms I have some go-to materials and shapes to cover all bases.
After designing many a WC, powder room and bathroom in high traffic areas I lean toward low maintenance finishes and hardwearing metals with as few moving parts as possible !

Bathroom Storage

For Toilet roll holders,  the simplicity of the Stowaway works anywhere and you could even add 2 side by side for those rooms that are super busy.

For lower traffic hotel rooms  where you can add more detail with the beautiful Bernard inspired by many stays in hotels in NYC & Paris. There’s always a need for additional, easy reach storage for handtowels or extra toilet rolls and the Steadfast does this job very nicely and may even encourage a guest to assist with changing the toilet roll!!

After scouring the market to no avail for wire small open top trash bins, I made my own in the Loot baskets. I use the large and medium for floor bins, and the small ones to bar  & spa fruits. The compass Caddy is a great addition for holding hand sanitiser & soap bottles, it can easily be attached to any wall surface

Hooks, Brackets & Mirrors

You can never have too many hooks behind doors – low for handbags, high for coats and bathrobes, my go-to is the Plainspoken in cast brass, Tresor or Varne in brass or nickel

Make up additional smaller format shelving outside of your joinery package with the hand forged Solander bracket or the cast brass Clinker Bracket. You can match the shelves to your joinery or paint colour. Great for toiletry shelves, toilet or  hand towel paper storage, spa towels and anything else that got forgotten and its install time!

The Capability mirror in nickel  & North mirror in brass are just the rights size for bathrooms (they looked great in multiples above sinks), dressing rooms & spa treatment rooms for guest to check themselves before leaving. The Capability mirror has a versatile chain that can be utilised or not.

Curtain Rods & Drawer Pulls

The Earnest rods can be used for Internal privacy curtain within a bathroom or due to their all brass components as shower curtain rods,  to hang acoustics quality curtains, or for half curtains on internal walls as a decency screening or to disguise an unfortunate door placement into a bathroom

The Lure is a perfectly hardwearing but gorgeous designer look pull & hook with combination of brass & zinc (a personal favourite)

Tresor pulls are petite but sturdy Tresor drawer or cabinet pulls that suit any interior design scheme with their compact design and choice of brass or nickel

Yar 50 & 60 – These longer Yar styles are understated versatile pieces that can be used for robe joinery or for guest towels and are front penetrated made from solid brass

Summer Stay at The Salty Dog

Summer Stay at The Salty Dog

This year, my dear friend and photographer; William Meppem and I captured the essence of this perfect boathouse, located in Newport, Sydney. The ideal spot to drop your anchor this holiday season.

I have dreamt of a boathouse escape for many years and all of my dreams have come true in a recent visit to a space that captures it all, The Salty Dog. This miniature house provides all of the nuances of boat building within its own minute space. Situated amongst the quintessential Sydney landscape of emerald green water and unique sandstone structures - surrounded by angophora gums.

With the extension of the dinghy & direct entrance to the water, this house evolves into an explorative landscape that extends beyond its petite footprint. If I were to create the ideal boathouse... This would be it.
