St Peters & The Imaginarium

The Society inc. finds its home in St Peters

Today The Society inc is to be found in a rambling 300m2 imaginarium in St Peters, Sydney. Furniture, textiles, books, homewares, art, and an ever-changing display of oddities & curiosities jostle for space in a gorgeous inner-city, brick warehouse steeped in history and nostalgia, right up to its herringbone joists.

A Look back in time...

I have shopped the world as part of my job & pleasure for the past 30 years and the retail experience has been beyond memorable for me. I have travelled to the other side of the globe just to visit a shop, and have had goosebumps walking into retail spaces that are magically merchandised where I wonder, is it a theatre set build? Is it a movie? Is it a portal to another world?!

I have been inspired as retail has changed in format to give customers joy & entertainment over the decades. Now I am blurring the lines of my own space between shop, showroom, library, studio, museum and workshop

My design studio is at the end of the warehouse. To visit you must walk through the shop & be immersed in my world on the way. A sense of discovery & adventure is what I always hope for, & strive to build for people to enjoy in any of the spaces I create. In the studio is where we make the  magic. We specialise in interior design for hospitality & residential (I’m open to ships too), product design & manufacturing.

From here, I work on collaborations with wonderful partners such as Murobond, Materialised, Eco Outdoors, Molmic and TeraNova, and the hardy crew I captain make my website, , travel, design endeavours, shop, sales, photo shoots & endless content sail smoothly. The range is constantly growing and evolving, inspired by things I see on my regular gallivanting travels and products I wish I could find for my own design projects.

It’s a chaotic mix of history and colour and design, always changing, always growing. The chaos is my calm, it satisfies my part-pirate, part-gypsy spirit.

Woolooma Glass House

Woolooma Glass House

If it wasn’t for the call of a lyrebird, the property might never have existed...

Late last year I made my way to the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW, around 6 hours from Sydney, where Woolooma Glass House lies. With my travel companions Silver and her little bestie - Maisy. Built in 1973 by Sydney-based architect John Suttor, this stunning property is owned by the White family, who have a deep-rooted connection to the land that spans generations.
