Exploring the humble beauty & nautical charm of the Crayshack
Do you dream of remote islands with just a simple shack to protect you and be your base whilst you explore? Well, the Cray shack is for you!
Looking out to a horseshoe shape bay of crystal clear waters and lichen covered boulders The Cray shack is located on Flinders Island in Bass Strait. Earlier this year we flew from Hobart & then bumped along sandy roads to to create a ‘design disturbance’ at this perfectly humble beachside shack.
The Crayshack is perched on Killiecrankie Beach, and although laid back, it has the luxury of a fully kitted-out kitchen with a fridge full of fine local produce , a few beers & the best view from the kitchen sink ! This place immediately makes you feel as though you’ve shed many layers of modern life and are brought back to the basics of what is good & only what is necessary - sand on your feet, casual & simple, a beautifully curated ramshackle in all of the comfortable ways
Killiecrankie boasts a rich history of cray fishing, a pastime that still thrives among recreational fishers to this day.
The village has become a picturesque haven for those seeking a slower pace of life, far removed from the hustle and bustle of cities. Offering unique attractions such as the renowned "Killiecrankie diamonds" and award-winning organic olive oil. Swimming, diving, rock climbing, and photography make up just a few of the pastimes here, making it the perfect place for connecting back to nature.
