Rigg | Bring Home the Look 7

The foundational materials & lighting form such crucial elements when designing an interior, and the Rigg Design Prize was no different. The space provided for the exhibit was a simple base build shell and so I called upon some favourite suppliers for the foundational layering of the Imaginarium.

'Tongue N Groove provided the wooden floor in Otta Vecchio finish, which I used to indicate the various zones in the 40mspace by changing the board patterns. The Bar flooring is made up of salvaged encaustic tiles by Jatana Interiors and the Alchemy Station features a tumbled Carrara marbled tile I designed with Teranova. Inspired by traditional pressed tin, the ceiling is lined in light weight PVC panels by The Classic Family painted in aluminium and rust paint that will continue to change over time.

The back wall features canvas painted in Boro 2 from my paint range with Murobond, handstitched onto the wall during the install. The canvas is anchored by a beautiful zinc dado with profile detailing by my ever-talented blacksmith, Saul of Colo Forge. To accent the base build the ever talented Noelle Rigaudie constructed floor to ceiling high painted cardboard columns creating the illusion of cast iron.

Each zone features its own lighting element: The Bed is illuminated by Anaesthetic's Duomo Floor Lamp, The Bar with 3 Il Fanale Poggio porcelain pendants from LightCo and the table space before the Curiosity Wall features Moda Piera's Arancini Lamp. The globe light hovering above the Dining zone is a Banks 120 Lantern from The Society inc painted by scenic painter Neil Mallard, and the Frippery features a new light addition to The Society inc product range, the Russes Wall Light (coming soon!). With close attention right down to the smallest lighting elements, I used Tradco GPO and toggle switches and cloth covered covered cord by Duckfat

As the Rigg Design Prize wraps up I would like to say a BIG thank you for having us at the National Gallery of Victoria. It was a huge honour to exhibit in your gallery and to be chosen amongst such luminaries and contemporaries in the Australian interior design industry.

I could not have achieved my IMAGINARIUM without the excellence of all the makers, manufacturers, artists, visionaries who contributed to my space. I encourage you to reach out to any or all of our black book of trades and suppliers to use in your upcoming projects.
