Tape
A tool I've used throughout my styling career and which sits as easily at home in the third drawer. However, I have way too many varieties for one small drawer! I lean towards paper & fabric tapes in all thicknesses & colours. I'm always happy to see them sticking & securing various bits & pieces on my walls; some are even artworks on their own or a great accessory to an existing one.
Tinctures
Concentrate or essence of spices & herbs used in medicine & cockatils, housed in stoppered glass vials.
Tinderbox
All the bits 'n' pieces you need to make a fire, kept safe & dry whilst out in the open country – a piece of flint (or matches later on), some kind of kindling, old newspaper, etc.
Toolkit
The essentials. Click here for my tips on assembling the essential stylist's toolkit.
Trader
Exchange of wares; the go-between the craftsmen/tinker/smith & hosueholds, a wagon of some descript pulled by the trader, a donkey or horse, laden with wares; taken from town to town; arrival indicated by the noise of wares clanging together (mainly saucepans). Wares may include brooms, string, saucepans, canvas by the yard, tinctures (see above), baskets, mats and other household necessities.
Typography
Alphabet letters constantly pop up in my interiors, whether it's a giant letter suspended behind a bed, a wood cutout painted and spelling out a word, or even a tiny lettered ceramic box that sits so innocently on a console, big enough for only a pair of diamond earrings or a tooth. For my commercial interiors and around the shop, I have a fabulous signwriter who tolerates my quest for quest for the perfect font (I often have new favourite). The more handwritten, stamped, silkscreened or irregular & inconsistent the better.
