The Society inc Cabinet of Curiosities

I have long been fascinated by objects of a curious and sometimes even an obscure nature, tools that once served a now forgotten purpose, found objects treasured simply for their appearance or material, nature’s offerings of pebbles, shells and coral. Over the many years working as a stylist and time spent scouring markets, I have amassed quite a collection of treasures and antiques from all over the globe and it seemed fitting that they all ended up in a cabinet of curiosities. The precursor to the modern museum, the cabinets of curiosities or ‘wunderkammers’ of old were collections of objects that were often not yet categorised or commonly known in contemporary society.

I’d like to think that The Society inc is bringing the contents of its cabinet of curiosities into a contemporary setting with our Instagram @thesocietyinc that launched a few weeks ago, with the help of some nice signwriting by Lynes & Co . Speckled amongst some of our favourite shop items can be found these cabinet treasures. So take a peek, you just might find an object to add to your own wunderkammer…
