The Alphabet Of Objects: N is for...

N is for... blog_nisfornecklace_1_600px

Necklace I've long collected amulets and talismans to wear close to my heart and bring me protection. I love the jingle-jangle of my assortment of trinkets that bring me luck and fair weather (touch wood). But, for this post, I thought I'd look at the possibilities for how necklaces can be used as a styling device, beyond on-your-person style. My amulets, that are at their most relied upon for new adventures overseas, often get a holiday of their own when my feet land on home soil. I might keep one close to me, but the others have their place in my home as an eye-catching vignette. All you need is a wall hook or a nail to find different options for wall art. But to take it further, my favourite on-display necklace has to be my cuttlefish necklace sculptures. My fascination with mermaids seems to know no end, and I imagine these sculptural pieces would be a proud breastplate for a chieftain or ceremonial piece for the queen of the Atlantic. They are made with cuttlefish and chalky mud beads and, due to the nature of the, every piece is different. I feel they embody the beauty of the ocean, while leaving nautical cliches at the door. I can almost hear the rhythmic roll of the waves when I see them. Shop my whole collection of necklaces, for interiors, protection or the finishing touch to your outfit.   The Alphabet Of Objects A is for...       B is for... C is for...       D is for...
