Mirrors

The bowerbird inside me seeks out shiny things. My eye is always catching a sparkle from the grass or the gleam of the moon. It's like a reflex. I'm drawn to lots of shiny and sparkly things and mirrors are one of them. But their particular sparkle is not the sole reason I've added mirrors to my list of bounty to be sought out on my treasure hunts and fossicking expeditions. There are so many more reasons that I love these objects. I love the vast array of shapes these pieces come in, as though they themselves are artworks deserving of whatever frame the artist sees fit. Sailing ships, shields, diamonds, crosses, circles - large, small and every size in between. There is no limit. I also love that mirrors, though impractical to move around, have incredibly practical uses. They are often used in scientific experiments for their ability to throw light around. This is one of their purposes in homes, too, though some might not weight this use with the same value. I often use mirrors in my interiors, they're a handy go-to to have. Don't get stuck with the regular (though still lovely) rectangular or square versions, why not pull together a collection of different-shaped mirrors of a wall-hung vignette? I think mirrors are slightly magical. Magic or not, you can always rely on a mirror to play with a room's petite dimensions and amplify natural light. Interior wizardry, if you will.
