Race & Religion

I recently travelled to New Orleans to seek out the jazz music, shops, museums, inns, boats, cemeteries and voodoo magic whilst working on my new project The Stylist's Guide to The Globe. On our travels, we came across Race & Religion. It's an oasis in what appears to be an industrial wasteland of downtown New Orleans, Race & Religion is named after the streets its sits on. A cluster of 3 houses now themed after the street names, sit around a garden of climbing roses & a slate pool. The first house the owner (an antique dealer & his creative artistic family) purchased was the slaves quarters & then, over time, acquired the others. The houses are full of religious themed objects, tribal rugs, salvaged shop fittings & architectural pieces from Argentina. Its eclectic, full of fun & building quirks- a perfect place for a party or a stay over. When I arrived , the rap music was pumping, and I loved the copper draw door , weighted with stone, the butchers pantry and the sense of magic & fantasy...

This was a highlight of my New Orleans trip.
