You can almost feel the summer breeze in the air. It's as if the winds are drawing the warm weather closer and the days are turning on a little more sparkle in anticipation. I think it's time to dust off the trestle tables and directors chairs and think about those long lazy lunches outdoors. Here are some ideas that I turn to to add a bit more fun factor.
The beauty of a lunching outdoors – whether for a festive occasion or otherwise – is that you can afford to be a little more relaxed with your styling. The tone of alfresco dining plays to a more 'come as you are' vibe, so don't be shy about gathering what you have to set the scene.
Bring your artwork outside, just for the day. Simply stick it down with masking tape; it brightens up any wall or day. Lay down some chequerboard vinyl, which you can pick up at a hardware store, to give the space an internal courtyard feel.
And when the lazy days start to fade into balmy nights, simple linen napkins with elegant tapered candles are all you need. Let the view and the conversation be the main attraction. Happy weekend...
