Ilse Crawford taught me that design could be a potent, magical thing and a very powerful force and she has mentored my entire career (unbeknownst to her). I have her first copies & the ones following from her days at Elle Decoration in the UK. She is someone who constantly pushes the boundaries and makes you reconsider and look more deeply & closely at interiors and from a completely different angle.
Buildings & spaces can be a life force and bring out the best in us. The home especially is a place for us to feel human again in a very beautiful way. It is so much more than bricks & mortar. Ilse believes that an interior cannot be transferred into an Excel spreadsheet and should be molded first & foremost by people, their needs, lifestyles & emotions.
This book is so refined & considered with a beautiful cloth bound cover and stunning, crisp imagery that gives an insight into both STUDIOILSE and Ilse’s intriguing private world. It is the perfect example of how design can become a frame for a mindful life. A must for your bookshelf or coffee table. I’ll treasure this one forever.
