Renovating your home is a very personal experience, one that should be guided by exactly what you want & need from your home. That said, there are still some pointers I can offer to help you narrow your vision. Here's some things I keep in mind when changing a space.
1. Avoid the pursuit of perfection. Slapdash wallpapering, with all its tracks and unaligned patterns, creates an eccentric, transient sculpture. All the slightly skew-wiff details only make a home more unique.
2. Let the space direct you, not the other way around. Often you will create something you never would have thought of. Understand what you're working with before stomping through in your steel-capped boots.
3. Don’t feel like your rooms have to have all the mod cons – install only what you’ll use and suits your lifestyle.
4. Create a dedicated sanctuary space within your home. Lookouts & sanctuaries often inspire contemplation or offer a place to hide away. By making one of your own, you create a moment and space to breathe and reflect without climbing to the top of a lighthouse and staring into an expanse of ocean.
5. Make every object count.
